A roadpath to eBay Success - Part 3

Welcome to part 3, yesterday we looked at product sourcing. Today we will be looking at the next step, listing your items correctly and honestly.

I can't stress enough how important this part is if you want to be successful, this is the stage where you communicate with your potential customers and your listing will usually show how you come across to those potential customers. Your listing and description could also be important for when the customer chooses to buy an item from you or your competitor.

ResearchBefore you do anything you will need to research your products correctly, this is because it will enable you to fully understand what you are selling and describe it as accurately as possible. You could do this by reading the information on the packaging or even check out the company website, write everything down and pick out the most important information you will need to include in your listings.

A roadpath to eBay Success - Part 4

Well folks, here it is, the last post in our series of articles on how to succeed online with auction sites such as eBay. We have delved into picking your category/niche, sourcing your products and listing your items. Today we move on to customer care during and after sales, also we will be dealing with postage and packaging

Setting your P&P Price
When you list your items you will be asked how much you would like to charge for postage and packaging, let me get this straight, if there's one thing I hate it's people wildly overcharging for P&P. Sometimes you will see someone charging £4 for posting a DVD, it can get ridiculous so don't do it, trust me you will put customers off. So take into account how much it will cost to post and the packaging you will use, maybe round it off and stick to that price, the customers will have more respect for you and there is a higher percentage chance they will come back.

A Student's Best Friend

Anyway this might be an odd post but I find these little devices so handy and probably use it every day, what is he talking about? I hear you say.....
Yes, I'm talking about a USB Flash/Pen drive.
I'm not really sure what to call them because they seem to have numerous names and don't have an established name definition, pen drive, flash drive, usb drive...whatever, their brilliant.

They are very common these days, but in my opinion they are essential for every student

Haggle your Way to a Great Deal

Hello there! A slight change to the promised ISA's Explained post, don't worry, this will come tomorrow or the day after, just doing some last minute tweaks, Anyway....

Pretty good day today, basically my contract phone with three ran out last month, and to be honest I haven't enjoyed my experience with them at all, in fact it's been one of my worst, so I decided to give them a call to cancel my contract, they did the usual 'we have somegreat offers', and I did my usual stubborn 'I don't wanna know!' act. After a while they offered me a great deal (even though I wasn't going to admit that!), 500 minutes and 1000 texts, usually £35, mine for £27.50. Anyway, after a few minutes I got them down to £25, and then hey presto! A brand spanking new Sony Ericsson's k610i, a great contract, 6 months free insurance, next day delivery, all for £20 a month, I think this is a very good deal, and just goes to show what you can do by acting like a bit of an arse and being really grumpy on the phone.

So this has taught me a lesson....challenge people, and they will move just to keep your custom!

I will get going and create a guide for haggling yourself a great deal on almost anything!

Mini-Cash ISA's - A Guide

Welcome to my guide to saving with a mini-cash ISA, I know I've been promising it for weeks now but it's finally here, so lets begin

If you're in an envious position for a student, and actually have left over money, maybe you work and could do with stashing it away somewhere, you should seriously consider putting some aside in a mini-cash ISA, this guide will tell you all you need to know about ISA's and some tips on the best one's out there, so keep reading.

What is an ISA?Basically an ISA is a savings account, where the interest you earn isn't taxed, therefore you earn more interest for a year on up to £3000 cash. So to clarify, if you put your money into a mini-cash ISA (up to £3000), the taxman can't touch it.

eBay Scam Alert - Picture Only Scam

Here at PC Protection we will alert you of scams doing the rounds on the Internet, there are many out there, today were going to take a look at the picture only scam which is common on auction sites such as eBay.

How it Works
It's a really simple scam, but catches out thousands of people and makes a group of dishonest people a lot of dishonest cash. Here is the scam in easy steps

The Importance of Using a Firewall

In this day and age, it's essential we use all the tools necessary and available to us in order to protect ourselves online from hackers and viruses. The problem with the Internet is that it's a public network i.e. all computers are connected together, so this leads to a big problem, everyone can access any one's computer through the public network. This is where a firewall comes in.

PC Protection Guide – Best Free Firewall

Firewall is software that monitors the ingoing and outgoing traffic from your PC. It’s a crucial component in protecting you from online threats. People usually installed anti-virus, anti-spyware but often they forgot to install it.
In my opinion, it is a slightly advance protection software and can cause some headache for those who don’t know anything about computer. I would suggest you to read a few things about this software first before actually using it. It’s because you’re going to need to know about the processes going in or out from your PC.
In this article, I will share with you two best free firewalls available on the internet for you to download. The first software is Comodo Firewall Pro.

Most of these are NOT even netbooks to me.

For me, a netbook is an INEXPENSIVE computer: I could take it with me anywhere because it is not my main computer and if it gets broken/stolen/lost is just an annoyance, not a catastrophe. So, for me, anything above $400 does not qualify as a "netbook". Take it anywhere is also one of the most important points, so a 12' screen and full size keyboard also are very difficult to have and still be called "netbook". None of the computers with either of those commented here are netbooks to me.

Top Tip

I have been bothered for quite a while about your coverage of netbooks. I have been using an Asus Eee PC 900HA (8.9 inch screen 160 Gbyte drive, 3 cell battery) for about 9 months. I love it. It goes with me everywhere. It has replaced my pda. Its larger screen and much larger storage capacity means that I can read and store documents from the device easily, as well as use it occasionally for conventional PC tasks such as surfing and light editing. It is much larger than a pda, no longer pocketable, but still portable enough to go into a light bag that goes with me. I'd rather have a netbook than a smartphone as a replacement for a pocket computer -it's more capable, and easier to read, and still portable. When I know that I will be using my netbook for many hours away from external power, I dim the screen. It is still eminently usable in this mode. The only problem is that Outlook cannot remind me of a meeting when the netbook is in sleep mode. This is presumably because no one expected that Windows XP would ever be used to run a pda-like device, so it does not know how to be on but inactive until a specific time. If this problem were fixed, my netbook would be a perfect pda replacement. Your reviews are impressed with larger screens, larger keyboards, larger batteries. These features all make the device less portable - more like a laptop, less like a pocket pc. I have a laptop, but I don't carry it with me everywhere. I use the laptop as I would any other PC. Your editor's choices should reflect the unique and useful features of netbooks as replacement for the now dead category of pocket pc/pdas, rather as replacements for laptops. Because you and other reviewers are stressing and giving editor's choice awards to the wrong benefits of a netbook, the manufacturers are also going toward larger screens, keyboards and batteries. I fear that when the time comes to replace my current netbook, there will not be much hardware to replace it with.

How to Buy a Netbook

Netbook makers are including more features, bigger screens and keyboards, and faster parts. We walk you through the latest trends and tell you what features really matter in a netbook.

Netbook makers are including more features, bigger screens and keyboards, and faster parts—all while slashing prices like a Walmart special. These devices, which are popping up in more and more households, are also becoming increasingly popular among small business professionals and college students who are about to head back to school.

Essential Guide to Online Banking Protection

As the use of virus attacks to target online bank accounts by cyber criminals increase, it is important that online banking customers know how to protect their accounts from malicious programs such as viruses and trojan attacks. Only recently there was a report about a ‘trojan’ virus which was described as ‘the most sophisticated and dangerous malware program ever created’ by security experts. Like other online attacks, the program operated discretely by secretly emptying customer accounts while showing them fake statements so that the scam was undetected.

How to Buy a Video Card

A discrete video card is a must for games, but will boost the performance of other applications as well. You can find one that matches your needs and your budget as long as you keep in mind these few simple things.

Let's face it: Most of the time people buy a video card (also known as a graphics card) for a non-business PC, it's to play games. Oh sure, discrete video cards may offer additional benefits with video playback or transcoding (and, increasingly, Web browsing), but who are we fooling? The main reason discrete video remains such a huge and fiercely competitive market is because, when it comes to playing games that don't come from PopCap or Big Fish, integrated graphics just don't cut it.

Flash Drive 101: Copying Files, Removing Viruses

Learn some basic flash-drive survival skills, like how to copy files to a USB drive and protect a drive from viruses.

The other day, my wife asked me how to copy a PowerPoint presentation to a flash drive so she could take it with her to school. I was a little shocked. My very own wife doesn't know how to do this? I've failed as a husband!

To make sure I don't fail you, dear readers, allow me to explain the process of copying files to flash drives. Most of you probably know how, but I'll wager it's a mystery to at least some users.

Keep Your PC Awake, Install Apps Fast, and More . . . for Free

Are you upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 or buying a new PC? In both cases, you face the same tedious chore: reinstalling all your apps. That means digging out a bunch of CDs and/or downloading programs from various sites, then installing them one at a time. I don't know about you, but I can think of better ways to spend several hours.

  • The Ninite Web site creates a custom software installer with all the freeware and open-source apps you want. Just choose from the dozens of available programs--everything from AVG Anti-Virus Free and Dropbox to OpenOffice.org and uTorrent--and the service builds an installer that will download and load them all.

Two Monitors in Every Office

I added a second monitor years ago and it was sweller than swell. Click a link in an e-mail on the right monitor and watch it appear in the browser on the left monitor. Besides watching my productivity increase (I say that for you business types), it felt wildly cool seeing two screens at once.
If you didn't realize, I like cool things.
But my gut said, "If two's good, three's got to be better." It is.
That's because with three, I'm on the middle screen, writing in Word, doing research in a browser on another screen, and trying out the app I'm reviewing in on the third window. Or if Judy's not around, watching a movie.
